For the first three weeks of November, 1914, 1st Royal Irish Fusiliers of 10 Brigade, 4th Division were in trenches at Ploegsteert with the battalion HQ in Rue Lutun, Houplines. During their time here the battalion was shelled on a regular basis and it is likely that it was shell fire that killed Stephen Taylor on 9th November. |
